My Mormon background has me compulsively prepping my “disaster pantry” whenever I have the chance. Dehydrated tomatoes from the garden? Check. Large costco bag of chocolate chips? Check. 25 pound bags of rice? Check. 24 cans each of pinto beans, black beans, diced tomatoes and tomato sauce? Check.

Every time I write with a group, I end up writing something about food, or even the lack of it. I actually don’t remember cooking at all in my early twenties, except for the completely cliche Top Ramen in the apartment with the red carpet, and a diet of Bisquick items and International Coffees in “The Riviera” apartment.
