The New Title
Giving a film its title is a process. You have to encompass what’s going on in just a few words, while communicating genre and enticing people to come see it.
But first things first, here is a synopsis of our feature-length movie, now in post-production, for anyone new here:
In this werewolf romantic comedy, burnt-out college professor Peter MacTire accidentally becomes a werewolf, and he and his estranged concert cellist wife Julia MacTire must embrace the change to thwart an evil occultist plot, save the college, and their marriage.
The title has gone through multiple iterations, and we never really decided on a final title. First, it was Wolf Tone, which referred to an off-note made by a cello. We loved it but it was often misinterpreted as “Wolf Town” or just not understood at all.
Then it was Wolf Story, and Wolf Stories, which applied to the film, but was a bit general, and they could both feasibly be interpreted as documentaries about wolves. Haha. We needed something that communicated “smart, werewolf rom-com” a little more.
So we settled on, drum roll… Werewolf Serenade.
First of all, it actually has Werewolf in the title (!) And it brings in the musical and romantic element with Serenade, the juxtaposition of words potentially suggesting a comedy.
Mark Robinson, (as the villain, below) former WIRED Magazine editor, who co-created the term “crowdsource” (earning a spot in the Oxford English Dictionary) was part of the brain trust that coined the new title with us.
So now, you can confidently tell your friends about Werewolf Serenade, this fun, new “smart, werewolf rom-com” coming to a screen near you in 2024!
